I love cities where some art is to be found somewhere on or in the streets. Melbourne classifies very well in this categorie with it's famous graffiti lanes. These areas remind me of barrio gothico a bit, the neigbourghood in Barcelone where I lived for a while and where the blinds if the shops in the little streets where all covered by graffiti. Melbourne is quite famous for its graffiti lanes even though the city actually has a pretty strict graffiti-law. But you have to be able to see past the law and see the art that makes these places so special. My favorite - and probably the most famous - was Hosier Lane, a small street not far from Federation square. The part that makes these places so special is that they are ever changing. The walls never look the same for too long, the atmosphere is quite intriguing and there is always some young guy walking around somewhere with a graffiti can. Art is great, especially street art; it just brings a whole different dimension to it
